Role: Designer, Developer, Tech Artist

Duel of Champions is a networked head-to-head touchscreen arcade installation based on Gatorade’s “Fuel of Champions” campaign. Players compete in a “soccer duel”, attempting to score on their opponent’s goal while simultaneously protecting their own. The multiplayer matches update a real-time leaderboard of high scores as players drag their shields across the screen and tap in the enemy direction to aim their ball, collect powerups, and choose between three different player characters with varying strategies.

Contributions:

Networked Competition
Utilizing Unity's Network Manager in tandem with ParrelSync, I connected the gameplay of a host, client, and leaderboard computers, along with employing a technique of sending fewer 'command' structs across the network to ensure synchronous gameplay and reduce network load.

Multitouch Gameplay
Along with scripting the gameplay and its corresponding VFX, I also implemented a 'sword-and-shield' game feel with simultaneous drag and tap multitouch controls that made the player experience more immersive and emergently created different play styles.
